Beautify your Essays with the Proper Use of Connectives

I came across various types of confusion among students surrounding the use of connectives. Therefore, I decided to write a post and try to clarify some of those confusions and thus help them take advantage of these linking words and phrases (connectives can be single words as well as phrases) to beautify their essays.

Connecting Sentences
First of all, connectives can be used within paragraphs to connect two or more related sentences. I guess there is not much confusion in there. As you have seen in this paragraph itself, I am using connectives from the start. Don't be obsessed, however, in using such words. If you use them too much then it might ruin your essay, as too much repetition of such words can render your essay boring to read, which, in turn, can hurt your scores! Therefore, stay in safe side by using the connectives in appropriate places only.

How far has the government been able to meet the expectation of people in your country?

Essay Idea only. Not a complete essay.
In this kind of essay, it is preferable to write on one side with a balance paragraph, which means one or two paragraph on the another side to demonstrate your broader perspective on the topic. In other words, it is like writing for both side, but with greater weight for one side and lower weight for another side.

Actually, if you answer naturally then most probably your answer will be like that, rather than the other way around. That is because some governments are successful in meeting most of the expectations of its people, while some governments are successful to meet only a few expectations of its people. Still, these are not the only scenarios and you could come up with a number of other perspectives.

First of all, it is important to understand that social networks are neutral - neither good nor bad - in themselves! So, whether they improve our work and personal lives is based upon how we use them. Thus, there are ways they can ruin or improve our lives.

Personal lives Social networks help us connect with our friends, kin and relatives even when we don't have time to meet them physically, or even when they are located far away. Is an ageing population necessarily a bad thing?

Note: This article is just for brainstorming and getting ideas. It is not a proper GP essay!

In developed nations, an increasing proportion of senior citizens in their population has been observed. This phenomenon is known as ageing population which poses significant challenges to their economy. While the working population does not experience growth in the same ratio with the working population, the burden of supporting larger number of elderly people lies on the smaller number of working people. In other words, government's expenditure on supporting elderly population including social security and medical care, takes up a sizable proportion of country's GDP. This affects the nation's expenditure on other sectors such as education, infrastructure development, and the like. However, whether ageing population is really a bad thing or not requires careful examination.
